Re: Exploring the World of Darkness
Though I admit I never considered which faction Brand would be a part of, I think he would feel himself above takng sides like that. He barely considers himself a part of network zero as it is.

Re: Exploring the World of Darkness
How about this? My character was a member of the Mafia. He was a regular criminal doing whatever the family asked of him, until it started putting great stress on his marriage. Fights ensued and things got violent between my character and her wife, also his daughter started dating the wrong people and this eventually led to her getting raped by a group of boys. My pc got his baseball bat and tracked down the scumbags and gave the guys what they deserved, all in front of the poor daughter who followed her dad trying to prevent him from getting hurt by the badass kids This however was the last straw in his already strained relations with his family. In order to get them back he decided to quit. But of course you don't quit the famia. either you die or you testify against the family, enter witness protection and pray to god they don't find you. Which he did. Months later everything was getting better when out of the blue the daughter disappears, the wife, blaming PC for this leaves him in a hurry. PC vows to find out what happened to her daughter, and not trusting the police and unfamiliar with the local crime he joins a detective agency hoping to find some clues about his daughters whereabouts. is it too much?

Re: Exploring the World of Darkness
By the way, there are (at least) two other private investigators in Raconok City (independent of the agency Wrenchy will write up). One of them specializes in criminal organizations and is an NPC, but he's sort of hard to reach (unless you know where to look and who to ask).
The other P.I. is also an ex-police detective. She's a PC in my Hunter game (Tales of the Hook: Bodies). Her name is Kristen Port and she's with Network Zero.
I'll have to talk to Wrenchy about the possibility of including game-character-crossovers, but it might be really cool if we can make it work.

Alright. Starting tomorrow, I'll start working on needed stuff for the game. As for the character concept, seems kinda iffy to me. Most respecting jobs in any sort of legal work wouldn't allow known felons to work for them.

I don't know. You do get a totally new identity when in witness protection. Anyways it's your call.

Re: Exploring the World of Darkness
Hmmm, but don't you also get transported to a totally different city/state when in Witness protection as well?

Re: Exploring the World of Darkness
So who is actually playing? I can tell that Draco and me are interested but don't know anout the others. I'm halfway through the background of my character and he's pretty much a son of a former movie star who works on the other side of the States not because he has to but simply because he enjoys collecting information (and sometimes forcing it out of other people). And he looks like this: I'll post the completed backround once I finish it together with character sheet, hopefully in Wrenchy's game subforum.

Re: Exploring the World of Darkness
Ok, here's my concept (If there is space for another player). I think of playing that one character nobody ever really wants to be: the nerd.
So I would be the computer, databases, files, archives etc good memory, knows a lot of useless (?) stuff etc guy who is the sidenote in so many movies with the big strong detectives. They couldn't do without him, but fame rarely clings to them. He is in PI business (backoffice, mainly), because he feels it is cool and as close to real action as he feels is healthy...
Question is: Wrenchy, do you consider this kind of person interesting in the group, or is it too far out of the actual storyplay to really involve him? If he just wouldn't fit in, I would come up with something different.

Re: Exploring the World of Darkness
I'm interested. Heeeere's my concept!
Adrienne Jeanneret, the Secretary-voyeur.
Adrienne's a good girl (so they say). Upper middle class family, degree in Urban Planning from Wesleyan, no criminal record and a charming, if aloof, personality. She's worked as a secretary in the detective agency since she graduated college three years ago. It's not a great job, but the hours are flexible, the pay is good, and it lets her indulge her voyeuristic tendencies. She'd never tell anyone, but her thirst for other people's secrets and sins is growing ever stronger. It takes all her self-control not to stay late, dreamily flicking through the dossiers, watching the drama of cheating husband and relapsed addict play over and over in her mind. Her boss has even caught her a few times, but she's a master of data entry, and she knows how to keep her mouth shut, so he hasn't ratted her out. Yet.
Ms. Jeanneret affects an appearance straight from a French noir flick. Her wardrobe is entirely black, white, and grey, with only the smallest hints of mourning blue or smoldered red. She smokes, constantly, from a delicate ivory cigarette holder. Her green eyes are hidden behind opaque sunglasses, and an old jade cameo is clasped at her throat by a thread of black silk. She's pretty, in an Old World kind of way, dark hair done up in a tight knot at the back of her head and silver rings on her fingers. She needs only minimal make-up to highlight her features. She wears a dusting of white eyeshadow and little else.
Also, if we're going to be setting the game in Raconok... how do I get access to the forum?
